Visual Enterprise Integration ChainBuilder ESB

ChainBuilder ESB Licenses

Bostech offers ChainBuilder ESB under flexible licenses designed to meet the usage and distribution requirements of different users:

Enterprise Use of ChainBuilder ESB

For those organizations that plan to use ChainBuilder ESB for their enterprise environment, Bostech provides a commercial license that includes technical support, product warranties, intellectual property indemnification and other assurances from Bostech Corporation. The commercial license is Bostech Corporation's private license, and provides a direct legal relationship with Bostech Corporation. One commercial license is required per server. There are no restrictions on the number of connections, number of CPUs, memory or disks to the ChainBuilder ESB server.

Alternately, enterprise users may choose an open source license if their use does not violate the requirements of the GNU General Public License (GPL) v2.0 associated with this open source software. Although the GPL license provides open source users no direct legal relationship with Bostech Corporation and limits redistribution rights, Bostech does offer paid Professional Subscriptions to match some of the warranty and support benefits included in the commercial license.

OEMs and Resellers

Bostech offers a flexible set of partner license programs. The end-user commercial license is the most common alternative for OEMs, allowing them the flexibility to embed and redistribute all or a targeted portion of the ChainBuilder ESB software with their solution. A second option for OEM or Resellers is to use the open source license, provided they abide by the rules of the GNU General Public License (GPL) v2.0 . For example, the GPL license stipulates that if a "ChainBuilder ESB-based” project or application is redistributed, the complete source code for this application must be open source and available for redistribution. Bostech offers OEMs and Resellers with clients using the open source license the rights to resell or re-package Bostech’s Professional Subscriptions with their solution.

Under either license arrangement, Bostech works with partners to design flexible pricing and/or support models that match their distribution approach. Partner options include fixed fee licenses with maintenance, subscription-based and/or transaction-based pricing models.

Open Source Projects

Open Source developers developing and distributing open source applications under the GNU General Public License (GPL) v2.0 are free to use ChainBuilder ESB consistent with its terms. Although the GPL license provides GPL users no direct legal relationship with Bostech Corporation, Bostech does offer paid Professional Subscriptions to provide annually renewable warranty and specific support benefits for open source projects.
